Wiener Sommerdeutschkurse are a free offer from the City of Vienna for non-regular students from elementary schools, middle schools, the AHS lower level as well as polytechnic or technical middle schools in the summer months of July and August. From 2025, school newcomers will also be able to take part for the first time. These are children who are required to attend school from the autumn and will be attending a primary school in Vienna.
The courses each last two weeks and take place in groups of a maximum of 16 students in schools in different districts of Vienna. For secondary level I there are additional three-week literacy courses with a maximum of 12 students.
Non-regular students who have only been in Austria for a short time should acquire basic knowledge of German or consolidate and expand their knowledge of German. Regular course attendance also enables students to take additional MIKA-D test in September of the new school year.
In addition to a daily snack, the courses also include trips and excursions.

The following three registration requirements must be met:
- Child is registered in Vienna
- Child attends a school in Vienna (elementary school, middle school, AHS lower level, polytechnical or technical middle school) or currently attends a kindergarden and will start school in September 2025
- Child is a non-regular student
