Swimming course for girls

Learning to swim! What is so normal for some people in childhood remains just a wish for others well into adulthood. But sometimes wishes come true!

The Verein Springboard fulfilled this wish for 8 young women from our basic education project InterSpace and made it possible in the summer by offering a 10-week swimming course for beginners. The girls - who can now all swim - were delighted! One participant (Sahra, 19 years old) reports:

"We were able to take a swimming course from Interface Wien. The course was specifically for girls and we trained with a swimming instructor. She was very nice and patient. She helped us a lot and in 10 weeks we lost our fear of water and learned to swim. The course was always on Sundays in the 10th district. It was very early in the morning, but we really wanted to learn to swim. There was a big pool and lots of swimming aids. I'm so happy that I can swim now. Unfortunately, I didn't have the opportunity to learn to swim as a child. This will help me now for the future. Thank you all very much.

Many thanks to the great management team of InterSpace for the initiative and organization and to the Verein Springboard for the generous financing of the swimming course and the years of support, through which many of our participants' wishes have already been fulfilled!

One year of StartWien Hub: Integration work of tomorrow

Following a successful first year as a pilot project, Interface Wien's StartWien Hub demonstrates how integration in Vienna can succeed today and tomorrow: holistically, in a coordinated manner, and closely aligned with the real-life situations of newly arrived immigrants and families. This innovative model is made possible by funding from the City of Vienna – Municipal Department for Integration and Diversity (MA 17).
During the visit of Deputy Mayor Bettina Emmerling and the head of the Department for Integration and Diversity of the City of Vienna, Theodora Manolakos, this all-in-one approach became immediately tangible.
