GEMMA! New health initiative of project MALVA

“Gemma!” is not only a German colloquial term for the High German “Gehen wir!” (“Let’s go!”), but also the abbreviation for "Gesund mit MALVA" (“Healthy with MALVA”) – a new initiative of our project MALVA – Startbegleitung für Geflüchtete aus der Ukraine.

In addition to the existing focus on health - with advice on all health-related questions and concerns and psychological counseling in Ukrainian - the new health project GEMMA is now aimed specifically at displaced persons aged 60 and over who are interested in health issues and would like to actively engage with others. The aim of the project is to strengthen physical and mental health and promote well-being.

GEMMA offers information events in Ukrainian on health topics such as sleep, depression, diabetes and much more in cooperation with the community nurses. There are also varied joint activities and excursions (Schönbrunn, National Library, yoga, dancing, Women's Health Street Town Hall, breakfast in the Neighborhood Center 15, etc.) and joint celebrations to promote a sense of community.
